residental apartments Southpark Terrace, Townsville 2009Southpark Terrace is a low rise residential development on the fringe of Townsville's CBD. The total of nine terrace apartments was developed in two separate buildings. The shared courtyard contains concealed common services and parking. The design language is simple, climatically responsive and repetitive, creating an instant sense of familiarity. The future energy requirements, in particular the use of air-conditioning - are minimal due to achieved high level on natural ventilation (use of louvers, high level openings) and low glare levels (use of screening to outdoor areas). The project has been developed with equal consideration of the public amenity of the street and rear hillside community, and the individual amenity of the private residents.
